Sir Fon’s Services

Six-hundred-thousand pounds are being spent by Anglesey’s Council to “improve” the Council’s headquarters.   I heard somebody say it was a case of “poshing themselves up”.

They’re going to flog off lots of other Council buildings and some of their staff will be working from home.   Hope those members of staff will get good expences for lighting and heating and use of their own computers.

The leader of Plaid Cymru’s group on the Council says that local folk will be worried about services being cut.   And rightly, of course:  those who pay the Council Tax have a right to expect proper services.

However, Council chief Ieuan Williams believes the whole plan will make “substantial savings”.   I suppose that if you cut services, you will make savings . . .

A Real Leader Speaks

If you need your faith in political leaders strengthening, have a listen to Leanne Wood:

About Archie Lowe

Though not born in Wales, I have lived and worked here for many years now. I love the place and love that mercurial thing "Welshness". I have been accused of being "a Taffophile" - which is pretty near the truth. The question I ask whenever some idea comes up for the whole of the UK is: "What's in it for Wales". I believe in an independent Wales and am so pleased that our Assembly is a big step on that road.
